TradingView AI Trade Review Documentation

Everything you need to know about using ChartMentor to review TradingView trades before you risk money

    Quick Start Guide

Get up and running in 5 minutes

    1. Install the Extension

Install ChartMentor from the Chrome Web Store. Click "Add to Chrome" and confirm. The ChartMentor icon will appear in your browser toolbar. Pin it for easy access.

    2. Create Your Account

Click the extension icon and sign up with your email. Free accounts get 5 AI trade reviews per month - no card required. Upgrade to Starter for the core AI review workflow, Pro for market context and deeper AI feedback, or Elite for high-volume active trading.

    3. Run Your First Trade Review

Open any chart on TradingView, click the ChartMentor icon, and hit "Analyze Chart." ChartMentor will give you a verdict (GOOD SETUP, WEAK SETUP, NO TRADE, or TRAP RISK) along with mistake detection and action guidance. No prompt setup needed to get started.

    4. Learn the Review Workflow

Read the step-by-step TradingView trade review guide, then use the pre-trade checklist to make the process repeatable.

    AI Model Selection

    How model routing is managed

ChartMentor routes analyses through a curated set of AI models managed from the backend admin controls. We update the available models over time to keep analysis quality strong and routing flexible.

End users do not currently pick the model from the Account page. Model routing is managed by tier defaults and optional admin overrides, so the exact model serving a request can vary over time.

    Custom Review Lenses

Fine-tune how ChartMentor reviews your trades

All users can write a custom prompt that shapes how ChartMentor reviews their trades. This lets you:

    • Define your trading style (breakouts, mean reversion, scalping, and more)
    • Specify what mistakes you want flagged
    • Focus on specific entry criteria or pattern types
    • Structure feedback into sections that match your workflow

Set your custom prompt from the Account page under "Review Preferences." ChartMentor will use your lens for critique-first feedback without overriding the core verdict structure.

    Advanced Controls

Define filters and rules (Starter, Pro, and Elite)

Starter, Pro, and Elite users can define custom rules that shape how trade reviews are generated. These rules let you:

    • Set minimum quality thresholds for verdicts
    • Require specific market conditions before a "GOOD SETUP" verdict
    • Define entry criteria and position sizing preferences
    • Override the default global rules with your own custom logic

Configure your rules from the Account page under "Advanced Controls."

    Review Lenses

Learn how to create custom review perspectives

Users without a saved prompt will see a short walkthrough on the Account page. It shows how to define your trading style as clear instructions, save it once, and let ChartMentor use it for critique-first feedback on every future review.

    Chart Preparation

Set up your chart for optimal trade reviews

    Visibility Matters

ChartMentor reviews a screenshot of your chart, so it can only evaluate what is actually on screen. Zoom to show the relevant structure and keep the chart free from obstructing panels or popups. See our TradingView Setup Guide for full details.

    Indicators

Keep your preferred indicators active. ChartMentor can read RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands, moving averages, volume profiles, and many custom indicators, as long as they are clearly visible. Indicator-generated BUY/SELL and Entry/SL/TP overlays are treated as context, not as your marked Review My Trade plan. Avoid overloading the chart with too many overlapping overlays.

    Timeframe

Set the timeframe you want reviewed before clicking "Analyze." ChartMentor also reads TradingView chart context directly, but the visible structure on screen still determines how useful the review will be.

    Trade Boxes & Drawing Tools

    The AI reads your annotations

    Planned Trade Recognition

Review My Trade is designed for planned trades you mark before entry. The AI can read manual TradingView position tools, entry prices, stop loss levels, and take profit targets when visible. It treats indicators and auto-generated levels as chart context unless you explicitly say they are the trade to review.

    Drawing Tools

Trendlines, horizontal levels, Fibonacci retracements, channels, and other drawing tools are all recognized by the AI. Use them to highlight the levels you want incorporated into the analysis.

    Reusable Prompt Setup

Get more from every scan by saving your strategy once

    System Prompt

Use your System Prompt to define how ChartMentor should think about the chart: what market conditions matter, what confirmations you require, what setups to avoid, and how you want the analysis structured.

    Signal Rules

If you are on Starter, Pro, or Elite, use Signal Rules to gate when ChartMentor is allowed to output a structured trade setup. This is the best place to enforce minimum risk/reward, required confirmations, and setup filters.

    Analysis History

Review and learn from past analyses

Use your saved analyses to review past insights, compare how different setups played out, and refine your prompt over time. The faster your prompt becomes reusable, the more consistent your review process gets.

    Common Issues & Solutions

    Quick fixes for common problems

    Extension Not Detecting the Chart

Make sure you are on a TradingView chart page, not the homepage or screener. Try refreshing the page. If the issue persists, disable and re-enable the extension from chrome://extensions.

    Login Issues

If you can't log in, try resetting your password from the login screen. Make sure you are using the same email you signed up with. Clear your browser cache if the login form is not loading properly.

    Analysis Taking Too Long

Most analyses complete in 5-20 seconds depending on model routing, provider load, and chart complexity. If it takes longer than 30 seconds, refresh the TradingView chart, make sure it is fully loaded, and try again.

    Credits Not Updating

Credit counts refresh automatically after each analysis. If your count seems incorrect, log out and back in to force a sync. Monthly credits reset at the start of each billing period, and daily limits reset at midnight UTC.

    Analysis Errors

If you get an error during analysis, check that your chart is fully loaded and visible. Partially loaded charts or charts with overlays like broker panels can interfere. Close any TradingView popups and run the analysis again.
